The weekend following the first full week of back-to-school is here, and despite some unpredictable weather, the summer’s biggest outdoor festival has arrived, Victoria!

Over the next several days, downtown will be buzzing with big-name acts like Ja Rule, TLC, Rez, Tokyo Police Club, C&C Music Factory, Channel Tres, and many more!

If that festival isn’t quite your style, fear not—there are plenty of other exciting events happening, including a PFC match at Starlight Stadium and the Autumn Lantern Festival in Saanich.

Without further ado, here are 9 things to do in Victoria this weekend:

Rifflandia

Riff has officially returned! This weekend is packed with music headlines, comedy at Lafflandia, food trucks, merch, and markets—there’s so much to enjoy!

Pacific FC vs. Vancouver FC

Enjoy an afternoon of soccer as the Pacific FC will take on Vancouver FC in an afternoon matchup this Saturday at Starlight Stadium in Langford. Kick off is at 2 p.m. — grab your tickets online.

Autumn Lantern Festival in Saanich

With fall just around the corner, it’s time to celebrate the season’s arrival in Victoria with an enchanting evening of lanterns, cultural performances, and community spirit at the Autumn Lantern Festival.

Featuring a range of family-friendly activities and live performances.

Victoria Royals meet the players

At this free event happening at Shippoint, hockey fans can meet the Victoria Royals’ players, enjoy fun games, and season ticket members can pickup their ticket booklets!

One Day 2024

Enjoy a low-cost barbecue, a FREE children’s area with bouncies and games, a Sport and Recreation area with inclusive activities, and LIVE music all day. Plus, the One Day Marketplace makes its return for the first time since 2019!

Hosted each September by a partnership of community organizations, One Day celebrates local diversity with a free, family-friendly event. The planning committee aims to bring the community together, breaking down barriers and fostering inclusion.

One Day kicks off Community Inclusion Month. Everyone is invited!

Free books at Indigo Victoria

Attention, bookworms! This weekend, you could add a new book to your collection—for free.

On Saturday, September 14th, customers are invited to visit any Indigo, Chapters or Coles store and pick up a FREE copy of one of four Heather’s Picks books that have inspired her most in her life.

Victoria’s Indigo at Mayfair Shopping Centre will be a part of this giveaway, along with Coles at Tillicum Centre, but only while supplies last.

Vic West Corn Roast

Celebrate Vic West and Spiral Cafe’s 23rd Anniversary on Raynor Street at Craigflower Road with local music, food, and fun!

Enjoy roasted and boiled corn, fresh apple juice from Vic West apples, and live music. Build a wacky zucchini car for racing—a favourite for kids and adults alike!

The Dog Show starts at 1 p.m., where pets can show off their best tricks. Bring a home-baked apple pie by 2 p.m. for a chance to win a blue ribbon; pies will be served after judging.
