Heads up travellers, more BC Ferries sailings are being cancelled this week.

BC Ferries announced on Tuesday, September 3rd that the Queen of New Westminster was experiencing a “mechanical problem” with its engine.

BC Ferries says they have tried to mitigate some of the service interruptions by adding a 6 p.m. departure from Swartz Bay and an 8 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen on Wednesday, September 4th, but that is the only day with supplementary sailings being added.

The Coastal Celebration, the Spirit of British Columbia and the Spirit of Vancouver Island will all be running as usual for the affected days.

People impacted by the cancellations will reportedly be informed of the situation by BC Ferries Customer Service Centre, who will help commuters by trying to fit them on an alternate sailing later today.

Those whose ferry has been cancelled will receive a refund of their fees and/or fares.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations,” said BC Ferries in a media release.
