Comox Valley RCMP say they have arrested a teenage girl after she allegedly assaulted several people downtown.
At around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4th, RCMP received a call, reporting the assaults.
The witnesses who called police told them the young girl was using a knife to attack people in front of the Courtenay library.
Police say they were able to successfully apprehend the youth shortly after the incidents were reported.
“We understand the concern this event may cause and we want to reassure the public that there is no ongoing threat,” said Insp. Scott Mercer, Comox Valley RCMP.
“The quick response by members of the public and officers played a critical role in preventing any further harm today.”
Police say no reports of serious injuries have been made thus far and that Comox Valley RCMP Victim Services is available to anyone affected by this incident.
The suspect will remain in custody until their court appearance.
