A lucky Victoria resident surprised her husband with a $1 million dollar lotto prize.
Drawn from the Maxmillions prize back in early August, Norma Flach shared in a media release that she was in complete shock when she realized she won.
She couldn’t wait to share the news with her husband and wanted to make it a surprise.
“I asked him to sit down,” Flach recalled. “He first thought I was going to share something bad, but I kept repeating, ‘It’s good news!’. When I finally told him I won he was in disbelief, and I had to repeat myself.”
The ticket was purchased and validated at Tillicum Centre Mall in Saanich, where the employee at the kiosk told her she won.
“It was super surreal…I was just in shock,” said Flach.
When asked what she plans to do with the money, she said there are no immediate plans other than to continue enjoying her retirement. Only now, she’ll be able to do so with a few more perennials and bucket-list trips tossed into the mix.
“I love to garden and travel in my free time. Plants and plane tickets—that’s what I enjoy! This win means I can enjoy retirement and continue travelling.”
According to BCLC’s media release, so far in 2024, lottery players across the province have redeemed more than $109 million from Lotto Max, a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m.
