Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant found impaired in driver’s seat of vehicle in Langford

West Shore RCMP seized a large quantity of drugs from a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after he was found passed out in a vehicle.

On September 21st at around 11 a.m., officers attended the 2600 block of Deville Road in Langford after receiving reports of an unconscious man in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Ram pick-up truck. 

Once on scene, officers checked on the wellbeing of the driver, who had drug paraphernalia on his lap. Police said upon being woken up, he was showing signs of drug impairment.

The suspect, a 40-year-old man, was arrested for drug impaired driving. Police also discovered that he was a parolee and was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.

RCMP searched the vehicle and seized the following evidence relating to drug trafficking:

  • Around 12 ounces of suspected cocaine 
  • Around 6 ounces of suspected fentanyl
  • Around 3 ounces of suspected methamphetamine
  • Around a quarter of a litre of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (commonly referred to as GHB)
  • Drug packaging and weighing materials

The investigation is ongoing, and police said they will be forwarding a report to the Crown Counsel for consideration of criminal charges. 

The suspect was held locally and then transferred back into the custody of Correctional Services Canada.
