A man was arrested on Thursday morning in the 200-block of Gorge Road East after officers from VicPD’s General Investigation Section discovered him in possession of a loaded handgun and over $29,000 in cash.
The arrest occurred just before 10 a.m. on September 5th, during proactive patrols.
The suspect had the firearm in a satchel he was carrying and was also found with $29,000 in Canadian currency and $320 in US currency.
Upon further investigation, officers determined that the man was prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous convictions, including drug trafficking and robbery.
He is now facing five firearms-related charges.
The accused remains in custody and is set to appear in court. Further details have not been released, as the case is now before the courts.
