A 24-year-old man was arrested by Oak Bay police after being caught in the act of trying to “hot wire” a vehicle in broad daylight.
The incident took place in the 1000-block of Monterey Avenue, near McNeill Avenue, on the morning of September 10th.
Police responded to the reported attempted theft at approximately 8:55 a.m. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and apprehended the suspect before he could complete the theft.
The man was arrested and later released under conditions, with a court date scheduled for October 30th.
Oak Bay police are recommending charges of motor vehicle theft and mischief in connection with the incident.
In a media release, Oak Bay police said they responded to 87 calls for service between September 9th and September 15th.
