Meanwhile, West Shore RCMP a couple of arrests related to a shoplifting spree that saw thousands of dollars in stolen goods taken from businesses across the Capital Regional District on September 12th.

The two suspects, males aged 45 and 30, were apprehended after being followed by West Shore RCMP’s Crime Reduction and Drugs & Organized Crime units.

Upon arrest, police discovered $10,000 worth of stolen goods in the suspects’ vehicle.

Further investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence in New Westminster, where officers seized an additional $30,000 worth of stolen luxury items, $30,000 in cash, and large quantities of illicit drugs, including counterfeit Fentanyl and hydromorphone pills.

“Our officers worked diligently on this investigation, conducting surveillance on the suspects, arresting them and recovering stolen merchandise and cash, as well as thousands of doses of illicit and prescription drugs,” said Superintendent Todd Preston, Officer in Charge of West Shore RCMP.

“I have had conversations with the BC Prosecutors Office and expressed the impact that chronic shoplifting is having on the West Shore. Our officers are still continuing this investigation and police are expecting charges to be forthcoming.”

Both suspects are expected to appear in court on December 12th, as the investigation continues and charges are anticipated.

Police urge anyone with information related to either case to come forward to help recover stolen merchandise and assist with ongoing investigations.
