Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has been assigned to a recent case of a suspicious death which took place on BC’s largest Gulf Island, Texada Island.
According to BC RCMP, in the early morning hours of Monday, September 2nd, officers with Texada RCMP responded to a call in the 5100 block of Para Street in Van Anda on the Gulf Island.
At the residence they were called to, police say they found a deceased 81-year-old man who is believed to be a victim of homicide.
After his body was located, Texada RCMP had VIIMCU contacted and they took over the investigation.
“The investigation remains in its early stages but investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to community safety,” said BC RCMP in a media release.
“This file remains under investigation and further details cannot be shared at this time.”
