A Victoria man delayed confirming his $1-million Lotto Max win so he could finish watching his football game.
After discovering he had won $1-million in the August 20th Lotto Max draw, George Nagy slipped the ticket into his pocket and headed home to watch a football game.
Once the final whistle blew, he double-checked his numbers to confirm the win.
“I was at a retailer close to my house when I scanned the ticket,” recalled Nagy. “I saw the winning amount and went home. I had to process it all. Then I went online and checked the numbers again.”
Nagy said he was excited to share the news with his son and daughter-in-law.
“We had dinner together and then I called my other two sons, and brother after that. Everyone was in disbelief – there was laughing and crying!”
Nagy plans to celebrate with his family next month. He also intends to travel more, complete home renovations and help his family.
“This is going to change my life. It gives me a chance in the later years of my life to do things I was previously not able to do,” said Nagy on his feelings when asked about winning.
He purchased the winning ticket at Save-On-Foods on Pandora Avenue in Victoria.
So far in 2024, BClottery players have redeemed more than $104 million from Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
