Here’s a list of upcoming provincial election debates and forums in Greater Victoria

Whether you’ve been following the election closely or are just getting into it, one of the best ways to stay informed is to listen first-hand to what each candidate is offering.

And throughout Greater Victoria, there are options to do just that via debates, forums or other meetings.

So, depending on your riding, now could be the perfect opportunity to tune in before the final votes are cast.

Here’s the upcoming provincial election debates and other discussions happening in Greater Victoria:

Victoria-Beacon Hill

Debate:

This event is open to all of the residents within the Victoria-Beacon Hill riding and will feature all the candidates for the area.

This includes Sonia Furstenau for the BC Green Party, Grace Lore with BC NDP and Tim Thielmann with the Conservative Party.

If you wish to attend, you can register, here. Submit your questions in advance via their designated platform.

  • Where: Victoria Conference Centre, 720 Douglas Street
  • When: Tuesday, October 1st from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Election forum:

This election forum is hosted by PSAC and the Greater Victoria Teachers Association.

It is being held at the James Bay Community School, and if you wish for more information, you can contact Danielle Dardengo at daniellemk28@gmail.com.

  • Where: James Bay Community School Gym, 140 Oswego Street
  • When: Wednesday, October 16th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Esquimalt-Colwood

Debate:

All candidates running in the Esquimalt-Colwood riding for the upcoming provincial election will be gathered under the same roof this October to talk about their environmental values and goals.

The candidates that are running in the Esquimalt-Colwood electoral district—which includes Vic West and View Royal—are Darlene Rotchford for the BC NDPs, Camille Currie for the BC Green Party and John Wilson for the Conservative Party of BC.

  • Where: Esquimalt United Church, 500 Admirals Road or online
  • When: Wednesday, October 2nd from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Oak Bay-Gordon Head

Debate:

Join all of the candidates running in the Oak Bay-Gordon Head riding for the upcoming provincial election.

The three candidates running for the MLA position include Diana Gibson, NDP, Lisa Gunderson of the BC Green Party and Stephen Andrew for the Conservatives.

  • Where: Monterey Recreation Centre (Garry Oak Room), Oak Bay
  • When: Saturday, October 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Town hall with Stephen Andrew:

Join Conservative candidate Stephen Andrew, and former Green Party leader and MLA Andrew Weaver for their opinions.

Registration required if you wish to attend.

  • Where: Via Zoom
  • When: Thursday, October 10th at 6:30 p.m.

Esquimalt-Colwood

Another all-candidates meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 9th—this will be the last chance to hear from those running before advance voting starts on Thursday, October 10th.

This meeting will feature questions from the Chamber and public, so if you have a question you would like to put forward, you can at the door or by emailing president@esquimaltchamber.ca.

  • Where: Esquimalt High School, 847 Colville Road
  • When: Wednesday, October 9th at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
