After the most exciting regular season in the Victoria Royals 5 year history, the playoffs are set to start tonight!

The Victoria Royals will take on the Spokane Chiefs in the first two games of Round 1 of the 2016 WHL Playoffs. Game 1 will take place on Friday and Game 2 on Saturday with puck drop for both contests scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Royals’ fans are encouraged to wear black and blue to all home games in support of the team’s playoff run.

EXPERIENCE COUNTS: The Royals’ and Spokane Chiefs’ rosters have a combined 348 games worth of playoff experience between the two teams. Victoria holds the edge as their roster has 206 playoff games played. Joe Hicketts, Tyler Soy, and Logan Fisher are all tied for the team lead, each having appeared in 25 contests. Meanwhile, the Chiefs’ roster has played in a total of 142 playoff games, with Jason Fram’s 32 post-season contests leading the club.

OPENING STRONG: In their five year history, the Royals have earned a 4-2 record in the first home game of a playoff series. Victoria collected wins over the Prince George Cougars in 2015, Spokane Chiefs and Portland Winterhawks in 2014, and Kamloops Blazers in 2013. Alex Forsberg leads all active Royals with three points (1g-2a) in opening home games, while Joe Hicketts, Jack Walker, and Tyler Soy are close behind, each with two assists.
