IvanhoĆ©Ā Cambridge announced today that it will invest $72 million to expand and redevelop Mayfair Shopping Centre.
The shopping centre will see an expansion of an additional 100,000 square feet along the Douglas Street frontage and about 200 foot frontage on Finlayson Street. The most noticeable exterior change will be a three-storey extension along Douglas Street.
The new section will be anchored by two new large format stores that have yet to be named.
Two levels of additional rooftop parking will also be constructed and will have a new access ramp off Finlayson Street. The new access will help with the existing roof parking, which is currently only accessible off Tolmie Ave.
A new set of escalators and elevators to the rooftop parking will be installed. A short term pick-up and drop-off zone with taxi waiting areas will be created, and the entry point to the lower level parking area off Douglas Street will be relocated to align with a new traffic light at Speed Avenue.
Mayfair Shopping Centre will remain open during the duration of the expansion and renovation, which is planned over the next 24 months.
