Colwood fire crews are on the scene of a brush fire on the Wildcat trail in the area of Cairndale Rd and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Earlier reports suggested the fire was started by someone shooting off bottle rockets in the area. West Shore RCMP are describing it as a “science experiment gone wrong.”
The View Royal Fire Department are also on scene assisting.
UPDATE: The fire is now under control but there is still a lot of smoke in the area, according to a tweet by CFAX1070 reporter Laura Brougham.
