Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Vancouver Island.
Over the next day and a bit, residents living on Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands are under the statement should prepare for an abundance of rain and gusty winds.
According to a statement, rain is expected to begin Sunday night and early Monday morning. Rainfall amounts are uncertain due to the storm’s strong upper-level flow. Some areas could receive warning level amounts on Monday.
A frontal system currently over Haida Gwaii will continue to produce strong southeast winds to the coastal regions of the North and Central Coast tonight.
According to the weather agency, southeast winds over exposed coastal areas of north Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii will continue to strengthen on Sunday and reach a peak speed of 90 km/h gusting to 110 Sunday evening.
The winds are expected to ease Monday morning.
