Restaurant Review: little plates of heaven at the Breakwater Tasting Room

Share

As Victoria transitions into sweater weather, we decided to hit up one of the city’s newest and most scenic eateries to check out their fare.

Hiding down at Ogden Point, The Breakwater Tasting Room features a truly seasonal menu that’s backed up by an extensive BC beer and wine list (note: they even have some wine on tap!)

They opened up in January 2018 in the former home of The Ogden Point Dive Centre, and have been serving up locally sourced small plates, charcuterie, and ferments all year long.

Their head chef, David Furrlonger, spends time foraging and thus brings fresh ingredients to the table along with refreshing ideas for the menu inside.

The charcuterie is a la carte and ordered in 20 gram increments, so you can get a very customized and consistent experience.

Outside the restaurant, their food truck is in full gear, bringing you classics like burgers, fish & chips, and churros so there truly is something for everyone. Make sure to check out their gluten free fried chicken that’s loaded with pickled and fermented vegetables as well!

Grab a seat at the Breakwater Tasting Room’s heated, licensed patio and take advantage of the Happy Hour that runs from 4-6 p.m., and a menu of little “2 bite flavour bombs”, presented as featured canape’s.

Little touches like their soy sauce “caviar” or amazing tahini sauces will keep you coming back for more.

So head on down and see what local awesomeness this self-proclaimed #divebar has to offer!
