UPDATE: A press release from West Shore RCMP confirms that officers have been investigating human remains found in a wooded area in the 3500 block of West Shore Pkwy.
Police were notified of the deceased individual by a witness at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning, after which Island District RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit attended the site.
No foul play is suspected at this time and there is no risk to the public, as the investigation continues.
Earlier: Several West Shore RCMP vehicles and officers have been seen investigating an incident near West Shore Parkway.
A wooded area in between Langford Parkway and Sooke Road has been cordoned off.
BC Coroners Service is officially investigating the incident.
