90’s favourite Clearly Canadian now available at Thrifty Foods

Get ready for a big dose of nostalgia, Thrifty Foods is now selling the iconic sparkling water beverage, Clearly Canadian!

First sold in 1987, Clearly Canadian was a cultural sensation in the 80’s and 90’s, but later suffered from a rocky production history in the country.

After disappearing from Canadian shelves in the early 2000’s, the company launched a successful pre-sale crowdfunding campaign in 2014, and the combination of the campaign plus demand from consumers has brought the sparkling water drink back to two major retailers.

The signature glass bottles can also be found at all Thrifty Foods and 7-Eleven locations in Victoria, and is available in five flavours: Clearly Sparkling, Wild Cherry, Orchard Peach, Mountain Blackberry, and Country Raspberry

Clearly Canadian first returned to 7-Eleven in 2017.

The sparkling water drink was so popular that it was featured in a number of iconic shows, including Seinfeld, Friends, Dawson’s Creek, Sex and the City, Weekend at Bernie’s, Jerry Maguire, and the Vanishing.

Fans may also remember some of the company’s previous flavours, like their Peach Mango, Western Lognaberry, Alpine Fruit & Berries, and more.

Clearly Canadian is also responsible for the short lived lava lamp-looking Orbitz beverage, which featured small edible floating balls.
