Fast is wanted after last weeks manhunt near Finlayson Arm. He attempted to run down a West Shore RCMP officer. Do not approach, call 911.

Update: Late this Tuesday afternoon, several West Shore RCMP plain clothed officers, with assistance from the Sooke RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services, arrested Derek Fast in Sooke without incident.

Based on recent interactions with FAST, the West Shore RCMP Major Crime Unit, Street Crime Unit and Crime Reduction Unit contributed to his safe apprehension.

We acknowledge the help and cooperation received from the public throughout this incident, states Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP. Our officers worked around the clock in effort to locate and arrest him, succeeding late this afternoon

Fast is being held in custody and is set to appear at a Tele-bail hearing Wednesday morning.

West Shore RCMP are requesting the public’s help in locating 29 year old Derek FAST.

Fast was alleged to have fled from police last Friday after attempting to run down a police officer of the West Shore RCMP. Police launched a massive manhunt but were unable to locate

Fast is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 178 cm (5’10)
  • 68 kg (150 lbs)
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes

RCMP say he has a lengthy criminal history and should be considered VIOLENT. If located, call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not confront him.
