The mother of an 18-month-old Victoria girl, who was found deceased in September 2015, has been arrested for homicide.
On September 16th, 2015, Victoria Police were called to a home on Vista Heights, near Cook Street just before 6 a.m. to check on the welfare of the people living there.
Police discovered an 18-month-old Victoria girl with no apparent pulse. Officers performed CPR before ambulance paramedics arrived, but the child could not be saved.
The girl’s mother was also taken to hospital in what police described at the time as “medical distress”.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), with the assistance of VicPD and the Westshore RCMP, arrested the mother yesterday.
Crown has approved a charge of first degree murder against the mother.
Because of a publication ban, police say they cannot release any other information.
