The best women’s sevens players are on Vancouver Island this week. The World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series begins in Langford at Westhills Stadium on Saturday.
If the tournament is anything like the one witnessed at BC Place, those in attendance at Westhills Stadium are in for a treat, reports Rob Williams sports editor at Vancity Buzz.
The women’s tournament features twelve of the world’s best national teams competing at six global destinations for World Series points.
Every four years the series also doubles as an Olympic qualifier, with the top four-ranked teams booking their ticket to the Olympic Games. Last year Canada qualified for Rio 2016!
Canada will have games against Japan, Ireland, and England on Saturday, with the knockout round taking place on Sunday.
