The sun is set to shine this weekend, and there is so much to do! Here are just a few of the things you can get up to around town this weekend!

FRIDAY June 24

SKA & REGGAE Festival

  • What: Take in a few days of Ska, Reggae, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Punk, Dancehall, Latin and Folk. Free workshops and Rocksteady art exhibition.
  • Where:
    • Rocksteady Collection Art Exhibit – Odd Fellows Hall, 5:00-7:00pm
    • DUB FX, Mikey Dangerous, Illvis Freshly, Grossbuster and Tank Gyal – Ship Point Inner Harbour, 4:30-10:00pm
    • A Tribute to Amy Winehouse: The Ballantynes, The Valuables, Boomshack, The Fabulous Lo Lo – Sugar, 9:30pm

Bites, Brews and Bands on the Barge

  • What: Every Friday (excluding July 1st) head to Ogden Point for Victoria’s Finest Food Trucks, alongside fabulous local beer from Phillips, Hoyne, Driftwood as well as local cider from Sea Cider, and take in great local music on the Breakwater Barge. A perfect way to start the weekend! 3pm-9pm.

National Aboriginal Day Celebration

  • What: First Nations traditional songs and dance with the Musgamaqw-Dzawada’enuwx First Nations group dance. Young singers and dancers will sing and perform ancient songs and dances passed unto them from generation. $10/members, $12/non-members. 1:00-3:30pm.
  • Where: Cook Street Activity Centre, 380 Cook Street

Island Summer Games

  • What: Play it forward in support of NEED2 Suicide Prevention and Education Support. Event from 5:00-9:00pm
  • Where: Topaz Park

Victoria Shamrocks

  • What: vs. New Westminster Salmonbellies. Game begins at 7:45pm. Alumni Night by Jenner Chevrolet Buick GMC – first 300 fans will receive White Spot Triple “O” burgers by donation. At 5:30pm join the Shamrock legends at the Alumni Tailgate Party & Beer Garden.
  • Where: The Q Centre

Victoria Harbourcats

  • What: Victoria Harbourcats vs. Kitsap Blue Jackets. Tickets start at $10. Game begins at 6:35pm
  • Where: Royal Athletic Park

Ship Point Night Market

  • What: Find some of the best vendors in downtown Victoria, jewelry artisans, soaps, arts and crafts, food stalls and so much more. Enjoy the live entertainment as Ship Point comes to life, 6pm-10:30pm.
  • Where: Ship Point Pier at Inner Harbour

Beach Food Fridays at the Colwood Waterfront

Community BBQ & Shredding-A-Thon

  • What: MacDonald Reality Ltd. will be hosting a community BBQ, and you can also have your important papers shredded at the same time. Minimum $5 donation per. Event from 11:00am-3:00pm
  • Where: 755 Humboldt Street

TD Victoria International JazzFest

  • What: A diverse program with over 65 bands from around the world, including artists from Cuba, Poland, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Various times and location so make sure to check out the lineup. Event runs until July 3. Tickets can be purchases at Victoria Jazz Society, McPherson Box Office & Lyle’s Place.

2nd Annual Tour De Shores 

  • What: Featuring live performance from the Band of Rascals! The band will begin their show at 11:00am, join along as they make their way down the island. Rock the Shores tickets will be available for purchase. 25% of the proceeds from ticket sales in Duncan and the Westshore will go to The Zone’s TLC Fund for Kids.

Sledge Building Materials Night of Mayhem

  • What: Featuring the BEAST Jet Dragster, Lordco Demo Series & NEXX Financial Claimer Cars. Demo cars/trucks, mini figure 8’s, bombers and claimers. Grandstands open 4:30pm.
  • Where: Western Speedway

TICKETS: $22.50/adults, $20.00/youth and seniors, $14.00/military and kids (7-12yrs), $65.00/family pass (2 adults, 4 kids)

Victoria Harbourcats
Christmas in June in support of BC Children’s Hospital

  • What: Victoria Harbourcats vs. Kitsap Blue Jackets. Tickets start at $10. Game begins at 6:35pm. The game will include Christmas music, activities, and an appearance of the Jolly Old Man himself. 50/50 raffle.
  • Where: Royal Athletic Park

TICKETS: $15.00 with $5.50 from each sale being donated back to the BC Children’s Hospital

  • What: Find some of the best vendors in downtown Victoria, jewelry artisans, soaps, arts and crafts, food stalls and so much more. Enjoy the live entertainment as Ship Point comes to life, 6pm-10:30pm.
  • Where: Ship Point Pier at Inner Harbour

Etsy:Island Makers Market

  • What: Featuring 37 different vendors at this one day pop-up market. Everything from art, jewellery, clothing, items for the home, bath products and so much more. Market open form 11:00am-4:00pm.
  • Where: Victoria Public Market, 1701 Douglas Street

James Bay Market

  • What: Quality handmade, homemade and homegrown products for everyone to enjoy. Enjoy locally roasted coffee and seasonal drinks. Kids tent on site offering crafts, games, face painting and fun shops. Market open from 9:00am-3:00pm.
  • Where: Corner of Menzies and Superior Street

Moss Street Market

  • What: “Make It, Bake It, Grow It” organic farmers market. Local artisans and chefs offering a selection of their tasty creations. Everything is local and produced by the person at the stall. 10:00am-2:00pm.

View Royal Fire Hall Open House

  • What: A “Thank You” to the community. Free lunch, hot dogs, drinks provided by Quality Foods. Open House from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Fun in the Park Picnic

  • What: Live music, plenty of children’s activities with bouncy castle, face painting and crafts. BBQ on site. FREE event from 12:00-3:00pm.

The Breakwater Market

  • What: Featuring crafts, gifts, food, produce all handmade and homegrown on the island. Live musicians on site. Market open from 11:00am-4:00pm.

The Random Do-Gooders MS Car Wash

  • What: Head down to Maxxam Insurance and support The Random Do-Gooders raise money to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.  They will be there from 9:00am – 3:00pm so bring down your dirty cars, trucks, motorcylces, bicylces and get those vehicles shining for a great cause!
  • Where: 867 Goldstream Avenue

Ride Don’t Hide

  • What: Approximately 200 registered riders will make their way along Dallas road with the goal to raise awareness and help break the stigma surrounding mental health, while raising essential funds to support mental health programs. First group leaves at 6:30am, last group at 9:10am.
