Construction set to begin on Pat Bay HWY, repaving and left turns removed

Share

Construction on the Pat Bay Highway between Sayward Road and Haliburton Road is set to begin July 4, and will take four months.

The $3.8-million project on Highway 17 near Elk Lake is expected to be complete in the early fall, and will include the repaving of approximately three kilometres of the highway as well as safety improvements where Cordova Bay Road intersects with Pat Bay.  Both left turn options at Cordova Bay will be removed and once complete, will allow only right-in, right-out from this road.

Traffic lights at both the Sayward and Haliburton intersections will be adjusted as needed to accommodate the expected traffic pattern changes.

The Ministry of Transportation says majority of work will occur at night when traffic volumes are low and no work will be done on holiday weekends.

The work schedule may also change due to weather and other conditions.

Drivers are being advised to give themselves extra time to get to the ferry or airport.
