Police looking to identify a person believed to have started fire near Victoria’s waterfront

Victoria police are looking to identifying a man they say is of interest to them, following an arson in Reeson Park on August 2nd.

Shortly after 7am, a fire broke out in the 1200-block of Wharf Street. Police say it was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries, despite the extremely dry conditions. Witnesses told officers that a man had deliberately set the fire.

The person officers are looking to identify is described as a Caucasian male, standing five feet, nine inches tall, with a medium build, aged approximately 25-30 years.  At the time of the fire, he was wearing a yellow hoodie, black pants with a red and white stripe down the leg, and a black cap with yellow writing on the brim. He carried a large duffel bag or backpack over one shoulder.
