The RCMP issued a statement after reports surfaced of a potential terrorist threat in Canada.
RCMP said they had received credible information of a potential terrorist threat.
A suspect was identified and “the proper course of action has been taken to ensure that there is no danger to the public’s safety.”
A terrorist suspect was killed in a confrontation with police earlier today in Strathroy Ontario, a community about 225 kilometres west of Toronto.
CTV is reporting the man was 23-year-old Aaron Driver. He is a suspected ISIS sympathizer believed to be the lone suspect in a suicide bomb plot on a major Canadian city.
CBC News has learned Driver's family was told by the RCMP that he had detonated a device that injured himself and another person.

Driver's family says they were told by RCMP that Driver had another device that he was going to detonate and that is why the RCMP shot him.

“The safety and security of Canadians is of the utmost importance to the RCMP and we take all such threats seriously,” the statement continued.
RCMP say more information will be provided as it becomes available.
“As this is still an unfolding matter and that the investigation is still underway, we are not able to provide further comment at this time.”
