The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in Victoria on Saturday, September 24, for their much anticipated Royal Tour of British Columbia and Yukon.

Hundreds of well-wishers, waving British flags and holding bouquets of flowers lined the airport route to welcome the Royals.

The Duke emerged first from the Airbus at about 4 p.m. holding hands with blond-haired Prince George. The young Prince was wearing dark blue shorts with a light blue sweater. The Duchess wore a blue Jenny Packham dress ‎with hat by Lock and Co, as well as the Queen’s maple Leaf broach. The youngest princess wore a little blue ribbon in her hair and hugged her mother close. The entire family was perfectly colour coordinated in shades of blue.

Much to the astonishment of onlookers, the Duchess effortlessly made her way down the stairs while carrying Princess Charlotte in one arm and moments later holding the hand of Prince George with her other free hand – all in heels!

The Royal family received a warm welcome on the tarmac by the Governor General David Johnston and his wife. Followed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau.

Also present were British Columbia’s Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon, B.C. Premier Christy Clark and her son, Hamish.

The young Prince appeared nervous at first, but was comforted by both his parents and then enthusiastically waved to the throng of photographers.

The Royals departed the airport and waved to well-wishers from their motorcade vehicle as they weaved their way through the streets of Victoria.

On the legislature lawn, some of the thousands who attended the official welcome had been waiting since 4:30 a.m., more than 12 hours before the Royal couple’s arrival.

The Duke and Duchess had to make a quick stop at the Government House to drop off their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

When they arrived at the Parliament and exited their vehicle, thousands of onlookers erupted into cheers of welcome.
