A few more words from the Oak Bay PD stand as a reminder to stay vigilant at all times.
The 45-year old woman who was attacked in her home on Tuesday with a weapon believed to be a machete is undergoing surgery and has not been able to speak to investigators at length yet.

According to Sgt. Rob Smith of Oak Bay PD, the weapon has not been recovered yet and there have been no arrests.
The only description of the suspect that we have as of now is that the man is heavy-set, in his 20s, and was last seen wearing a brown jacket, dark pants, and a baseball cap.
Although the victim’s identity cannot be confirmed at this time, it is clear that she was a resident at the property.
The authorities maintain that although this kind of attack is highly unusual, Oak Bay in general is a safe area by all accounts and other than taking basic safety measures at all times, there is no cause for undue alarm.
The public is still encouraged to use the Saanich Information Line (250-475-4356) and/or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477) to let the police know if they have any information that could help further the investigation.
