Victoria handyDART strike gets delayed until further notice

Share

Earlier this week, Unifor Local 333 – the union that represents Victoria handyDART operators and staff – issued 72-hour strike notice, putting them in a legal position to strike on Monday.

However an advisory released by BC Transit this weekend assures customers that the potential strike has been delayed, and all handyDART services will be operating as usual come Monday.

First Canada – the company that oversees the unionized handyDART employees – is currently negotiating with the union to prevent the impending strike from happening.

Unionized members voted 97 per cent in favour of a strike if a deal couldn’t be reached with First Canada, which works under contract to BC Transit.

BC Transit promises to update its customers with more information as and when they become available.
