In a press release today, the Provincial government announced a partnership with the City of Langford and District of Sooke in building a total of 115 affordable housing units to alleviate the housing crisis in the area.
The new houses in Langford will be built at 616 Goldstream Ave, close to schools, community centres, and transportation routes. 73 rental units including 12 townhouses are slated to be built at this location, and will be ready for people to move in by the end of 2018.
In Sooke, a housing complex consisting of 42 rental apartments, a community amenity space, a café, and church annex will be built at 2110 and 2120 Church Rd, and is expected to open in early 2019.
$7.5 million is being allocated to the project in Langford, while the complex in Sooke will be receiving $5.35 million in capital funding.
