Yes, you read that headline correctly.
In a tweet on Thursday morning, Saanich Police revealed a strange and hilarious situation yesterday involving a large inflatable flamingo perched atop a car.
Reportedly, the blow-up bird was being held in place by nothing more than the arms of the car’s inhabitants.
It wouldn’t have taken much for the flamingo to fly away. Luckily, Saanich PD pulled the culprits over, issued a warning, and made sure the bird was properly secured.
With plenty more blue skies and high temperatures to come this summer, Saanich PD will likely be on the lookout for more precariously-positioned air-filled exotic birds.
So don’t let your beach day excitement get the best of you. Tie down your flamingos. For everyone’s sake.

Your arms out the window, holding onto something on the roof, are not considered proper “tie downs”… 🙄 With the nice weather finally here please make sure you properly secure your cargo if you’re headed to the beach #yyjtraffic #Saanich #yyj pic.twitter.com/lbLJdKV8Qs
