Break out the denim and the boombox, Victoria – the 90’s are back! Pop music icons Vanilla Ice, Rob Base, Young MC, and C&C Music Factory featuring Freedom Williams will be making a stop tonight at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Victoria Fringe Festival
The biggest theatre event on Vancouver Island kicks off today. With artists chosen by lottery, 47 uncensored shows from across the globe, featuring almost every genre imaginable from puppetry to music to spoken word to walking tours, fill 7 traditional venues and 5 off-site venues for 12 days of indie theatre.

Home Run Derby – Baseball Canada Men’s Championship
The best men’s baseball teams from across the country have arrived for the annual Baseball Canada Men’s Championship and they’ll kick off the tournament with a home-run derby at 6pm at Wilson’s Group Stadium at RAP.

Phillips Comedy Night at the Mint Back to School
The funniest night of the week is Wednesday August 22nd at The Mint! Morgan Cranny and Drew Farrance bring the most hilarious comedians in the city together for a wonderful evening of fun at the best venue for stand up comedy in Victoria.

Indie Film Series at Capitol 6 presents “Skate Kitchen”
Crystal Moselle’s Skate Kitchen is a lively drama about the skate subculture, where girls aim to carve out their own space in a guy-dominated sport. Playing fictionalized versions of themselves are The Skate Kitchen (an all-female skateboarding crew in New York), including co-founder Rachelle Vinberg. Also starring Jaden Smith, the film debuted at Sundance 2018 and played at Inside Out.
