For nearly two decades, the Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society (VNCS) has been hosting the Island’s annual Japanese Cultural Fair.
This year is no different, and you can expect the usual mixture of delicious food, traditional performances, and fascinating educational displays.
“[The fair] is our chance to share our Omotenashi – Japanese hospitality that entertains guests wholeheartedly,” said Tsugio Kurushima, president of the VNCS, about the 2017 event.
“It’s a family-friendly fair with activities and events – and delicious food – for all ages.”
This year, new events for the free fair features a presentation on how to cook in traditional Japanese styles by Yasunobu Uchida, owner of Uchida Eatery downtown, and a presentation on Japanese tea by Jared Nygard, owner of the downtown teabar JagaSilk.
Harumi Ota, a master potter, will also be doing presentations throughout the day.
Don’t miss your chance to learn about Japanese culture, watch live music and dance performances, eat delicious sushi and bento boxes, and more, all for the low price of zero dollars.
