Victoria musician Adrian Chalifour to compete in CTV’s The Launch

Local musician Adrian Chalifour is set to compete in the upcoming season of The Launch, a popular Canadian music show.

A singer for local band Towers and Trees, Chalifour announced his placement on the show on Monday, describing how the audition process worked and thanking his bandmates and wife for the opportunity.

“The biggest opportunities in life are often the ones that take you by surprise,” said Chalifour in his announcement.

“I applied to The Launch in a brief moment of bravado; a self-dare to step outside my comfort zone and try something new. When they phoned me and asked if I’d come out to Toronto to appear on an episode, it felt surreal, like I was an actor playing a guy named Adrian.”

“But the moment I found out I’d be standing in a room with Nile Rodgers, Bebe Rexha, Marie Mai – VIP and Scott Borchetta, with nothing between us but a microphone and guitar, it became very real very quickly and I knew it’d be my most extraordinary experience in music yet!”

Chalifour also highlighted his gratitude towards his family and his bandmates for their support.

“Straight up: I couldn’t have done this without Jennifer pulling a lot of extra duty at home, and I truly owe this entire experience to her.”

“I also want to thank my bandmates and buds in Towers and Trees for giving me the leash to do this one on my own. It takes a lot of maturity, integrity and trust to let a guy take a run at a dream opportunity when it’s not the right fit for entire band and for that I owe them many fist bumps.”

Each hour long episode of The Launch features guest mentors and producers auditioning five emerging talents who perform the same pre-chosen song.

Winners of the show get a chance to air one of their own original songs on radio stations across the country. The single will be produced by Scott Borchetta, the producer who discovered Taylor Swift.

Producers involved in the show and mentor contestants have connections with Canadian musicians like Drake, The Chainsmokers, and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Season 2 of The Launch Premieres on CTV on January 30th.

Chalifour also played live music for Victoria Buzz during the Santa’s Light Up Parade in December. You can catch him singing to parade goers around the 0:55 second mark.
