62-year-old pedestrian dies of injuries after being struck by car in Saanich

A 62-year-old Saanich resident succumbed to her injuries around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Tyndall Avenue and Kenmore Road just before 9 a.m. According to Saanich Police, the female pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a minivan.

After the incident, investigators say that the operator of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative.

The deceased’s family has been notified but her identity will not be released to the public as the investigation is ongoing.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to her family and friends,” said Saanich police in a release.

There has been no mention on whether speed, distracted driving, or impaired driving played any part in the collision.
