There’s a Pride and Prejudice themed ball happening in Victoria this spring

Share

Elizabeth Bennet said it best in Pride and Prejudice: “To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love.”

And now you can fall in love yourself, either with dancing, or with a Darcy or Elizabeth, because you are invited to the upcoming Pride and Prejudice themed ball here in Victoria!

Bring out your best formal dresses and suits for a grand evening full of music, drinks, cards, photos, and of course, some light romantic banter.

The organizers recreate regency balls all across Canada (there’s another one coming up in Calgary this June) and the balls are themed based on the season.

Keep in mind that there is a mandatory dress code. Ladies must be wearing full-length gowns with covered shoulders and flat shoes. Gentlemen must have either tail or frock coats, vests, white shirts, and cravats.

If you’re worried about not having a dress or suit in time, don’t get your pantaloons in a twist! You can rent a costume from Disguise the Limit here.

But wait, there’s more! If you’re nervous about impressing your date or friends with your dancing skills, fret not.

The organizers are also hosting dancing lessons for $25 each before the special night. The dancing lessons will take place at the Polish Eagle Hall. If you don’t have the time, there will be tutorial videos of all featured dances being taught on this website.
