Update: According to VicPD, Zanaeh Edgwards-Helgason has been located and is safe.

Approximately one hour after a public assistance request was posted by police, Zanaeh’s mother, Emily Helgason reached out to inform us that her daughter was, in fact, never missing.

“I dont know how it happened, she [is] not missing. She was at school,” Helgason told Victoria Buzz.

“You would think in order for her to be missing they would have had to be able to PROVE she actually hadn’t been by anyone.”

For their part, Victoria Police officials are unable to disclose details about their investigation into the missing person case in order to maintain protocol.

“The officer who was investigating was concerned for her well-being and that’s why we sent out the media release,” Cst. Matt Rutherford told Victoria Buzz.

Victoria Police are seeking public assistance in locating missing 13-year-old, Zanaeh Edwards-Helgason.

She was last seen on Monday, April 29th, at 8:40 a.m. in the 900-block of Topaz Ave.

Zanaeh is a Caucasian teen standing approximately 5’4″ tall with a slim build, has shoulder length brown hair and was last seen wearing a black “Thrasher” hoody, black leggings, white running shoes, and possibly a black back pack.

Police and family members are concerned for her well-being.
