A collaboration between Sidney/North Saanich RCMP and Saanich Police led to the arrest of a suspect in a rash of recent break-and-enters in the North Saanich area.

41-year-old Daniel Sutherland was arrested after being identified as a person of interest in these incidents.

The arrest was made after both agencies executed a search warrant of Sutherland’s residence on Cloverdale Ave in Saanich.

He was held in custody and appeared in court on June 14th after being charged with two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and one count of Break and Enter.

“The Sidney North Saanich RCMP remains committed to addressing the rise in
property crime in our area,” says Cpl. Kevin Shaw.

“This positive outcome resulting from the teamwork between our General Investigative Section and the Saanich Police is reflective of the work we will continue with our partners to target multi-jurisdictional offenders.”

Sutherland is scheduled to appear in court again on June 26th.
