His body was found five months later by a hiker on October 17th, 2018, approximately 7 km from where his van was found.

According to the Coroner’s report, there was an encampment nearby suggesting that Kilmer had spent some time in the area before his death.

While the blood splatter in his van was matched to Kilmer, it was determined to be from an injury unrelated to his disappearance and death.

Kilmer is survived by his wife Tonya, and two young children.
