Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries after collision with vehicle near Cumberland Road in Saanich

Saanich Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist involved in collision has passed away.

A motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Cumberland and Union Road at around noon on Monday, September 16th.

The events leading up to the collision are still under investigation as Collision Analysts and Forensic Identification officers are on site collecting evidence. Police say traffic in the residential area will be impacted throughout the afternoon.

Officers are working to notify the family of the deceased, and his identity has not yet been revealed. 

Victims Services have also been contacted to provide support to all those who were impacted by this incident. 

“This is a terrible crash that has taken away a man from his family. Our sincerest condolences are extended to them all” said Sgt. Julie Fast, Saanich Police.

The driver of the car involved in the collision was uninjured and is being investigated for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
