A fire that damaged a portion of siding on a portable classroom at École Océane was set intentionally according to Nanaimo RCMP.
At around 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 21st, fire crews responded to contain the blaze at Oceane School located at 1951 Estevan Road in Nanaimo.
According to fire officials, the incident was apparently caused by debris placed next to the siding and then set on fire.
It was set on the south side of the school, in an area which is sheltered from view by a large retaining wall.
Fire crews were not able to see any individuals or vehicles in the area as they were on their way to contain the blaze.
“It would take some time for the fire to ignite so we are asking the public to call us if they saw anyone one or any vehicles in or around the school from 6 am to 7:30 am,” said Cst. Gary O’Brien.
