West Shore RCMP have arrested a 23-year-old woman after breaking into a Langford home in the middle of the night.

The owner of the home in the 2000 block of Sooke Road in Langford called police after hearing a commotion at the front door at around 3:22 a.m. on December 5th.

They heard a woman crying and knocking on the door, demanding to be let in. This was followed by the sound of glass breaking from a basement window.

The resident hid in one of the upstairs rooms with their three children until police arrived.

When officers showed up they found the distraught woman, believed to be under the influence of narcotics, inside the home and arrested her.

“The 23-year-old suspect was arrested and brought to the hospital. Police are still investigating this occurrence,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar.

She is being charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling and mischief under $5000.
