One man dead after driver loses control of vehicle in Nanaimo

RCMP say that one man was pronounced deceased at the site of a vehicle collision in Nanaimo.

At around 12:30 p.m. on December 11th the vehicle, occupied by the driver and a passenger, crashed into a tree stump in the 1400 block of Nanaimo Lakes, east of the South Forks Road intersection.

According to Nanaimo RCMP, preliminary reports state that the vehicle was heading eastbound when the driver lost control of the car for unknown reasons.

The vehicle then veered off the road to the left, struck a tree stump, and came to a rest.

Police say that the passenger was pronounced deceased on site, while the driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

As of the time of publication, both east and westbound traffic in the area is being diverted while police and BC Coroners Service investigate the incident.
