A search warrant executed on a hotel room in Courtenay turned up illicit drugs, cash and led to the arrest of two women.
In a media release, the Comox Valley RCMP say they seized cash, cell phones, and what is believed to be fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription drugs during a search warrant executed on December 16th.
According to police, the warrant was related to an active investigation into suspected drug trafficking from a hotel room located in the 1800-block of Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay.
“This seizure will impact the flow of illegal drugs in our community,” said Cst. Monika Terragni, of the Comox Valley RCMP.
“The Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit will continue to target properties and individuals in our community who are associated to any illegal activity,” she added.
Two Courtenay women, a 52-year-old and a 34-year old, were arrested and have since been released from police custody.
Police said all the circumstances of the investigation will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) for their assessment of charges.
