Environment Canada have just issued a weather alert for Greater Victoria.
According to the weather agency, southeast winds of 70 km/h will start to rise this afternoon, gusting to 90 km/h near the Haro Strait.
This burst of windy weather is owed to a Pacific frontal system approaching the Greater Victoria area.
Winds are expected to ease up early this evening.
In the wake of the wind warning, Environment Canada advises the public to be aware of damage caused to buildings, and loose objects tossed by wind that may cause injuries.
