UPDATE: According to VicPD, the intersection of Blanshard and Yates was reopened at around 2:30 p.m.
Earlier: One man has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Blanshard and Yates streets Wednesday afternoon.
Photos sent to Victoria Buzz show a motorcycle lying in the middle of the intersection. Blanshard Street between Yates and View remains closed.
Traffic in the area is being detoured and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
A witness, who has requested to remain anonymous, tells Victoria Buzz that the motorcycle was travelling south on Blanshard Street when a black pickup truck turned left onto Yates Street from Blanshard.
Witnesses are of the opinion that that driver of the pickup truck most likely did not see the motorcyclist before colliding with him.
The motorcyclist was reportedly unconscious for about five minutes, then regained consciousness when paramedics arrived and was able to tell them his name before being taken to the hospital.
According to police, the man suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
