COVID-19 response has boosted B.C. Premier John Horgan’s approval rating to 71% (REPORT)

Most Premiers across Canada have seen a major spike in their approval ratings, including British Columbia’s John Horgan.

According to a recent Angus Reid Institute report, more than seven-in-ten B.C. residents approve of how Premier John Horgan has handled the COVID-19 pandemic in his province.

He’s one of the six Premiers in Canada who have seen a boost of over 30 approval points in May 2020, with Premiers Higgs (New Brunswick) and Legault (Quebec) taking the lead at a total of 80 per cent and 77 per cent respectively.

The report finds that Horgan’s approval rating recovered significantly after taking a dip earlier this year due to the Wet’suwet’en protests against the Coastal GasLink pipeline.

Meanwhile, only two Canadian Premiers failed to achieve majority approval this quarter: Alberta’s UCP leader Jason Kenney and Manitoba CP leader Brian Pallister who have 48 per cent and 47 per cent approval respectively.
