Thousands of people are without power this evening on Southern Vancouver Island due to a sub station failure.
According to BC Hydro’s outage list, a whopping 15,111 customers were without power shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday night.
The outage is being blamed on a substation fault. Some residents are reporting their power has returned while thousands remain in the dark.
BC Hydro reports that its crews are responding as quickly as possible to restore power to the affected customers, and that individual restoration updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
Outages are being reported in Saanich, Langford, Esquimalt, View Royal, and the Highlands area, while most of the outages are showing in the Saanich area.
