Victoria Police searching for cyclist in alleged assault with a bike lock (UPDATED)

UPDATE: In an update on June 30, VicPD stated that the suspect in this incident has been identified and the investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Earlier: Victoria Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly assaulted an individual with a bicycle lock.

In a statement on Monday, police say they attended reports of the assault on June 5 at around 3:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Fort Street.

According to the report, the suspect was a cyclist who allegedly sped through an intersection without stopping.

Upon observing this, the victim in the incident told him to obey the stop sign and pay attention while cycling.

This led to an argument between the two individuals after which the suspect allegedly hit the victim with a bike lock. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a slim Caucasian man, about 20-years-old, standing six feet tall.

He has short brown hair and at the time of the incident, was wearing a charcoal t-shirt with a tree symbol, and dark pants. A picture of him is shown above.
