Share

Gulf Islands National Park Reserve says they will be reopening all of their remaining campgrounds, including backcountry campgrounds and Sidney Spit, by July 20.

Campers interested in visiting Sidney Spit can access the island with their own vessel or through a new ferry service run by Sidney Whale Watching.

The new departure location for the ferry is at the Sidney Whale Watching dock located between Beacon Pier and Sidney Pier.

Passengers on the Indigenous-owned ferry operator must book reservations in advance, but will not be charged service fees at the time of reservation.

Reservations and additional information for the ferry service including a schedule is online at www.sidneyspitferry.com.

Sidney Spit campground is now open for reservations. Gulf Islands National Park Reserve reminds visitors that there is no water available on the island and visitors should bring their own and clean up all garbage they bring.

The other campgrounds that will reopen on July 20th include:

  • Arbutus Point, Princess Bay and Shell Beach Campgrounds on Portland Island
  • Isle-de-Lis Campground (Rum Island)
  • D’Arcy Island Campground
  • James Bay Campground, Prevost Island
