West Shore RCMP have arrested three men in View Royal as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Police say the investigation began when residents in the View Royal neighbourhood reported seeing suspicious activity at a property near Island Hwy and Trans Canada Hwy.

Investigators executed a search warrant on the property and arrested the three men inside the residence.

They also discovered evidence of drug trafficking activity and seized over 80 grams of narcotic suspected to be a combination of cocaine and crack cocaine, one replica long gun, approximately $1,000 in Canadian currency and a vehicle believed to be used for drug trafficking.

The latest drug toxicity report from the BC Coroners Service shows that cocaine and methamphetamine/amphetamine were the second most frequently detected drug in overdose deaths in the province.

The three men arrested in this drug trafficking case are aged 59, 69, and 72.

Police say their investigation is ongoing and that charges related to drug trafficking will be recommended.
